Freedom Mobile 50GB $99 1 year prepaid data only plan no more?
I keep reading about the Freedom Mobile 50GB $99 1 year prepaid data only plan but I don't see it on their website. Is it not offered anymore?
I see only 12GB/year for $179/year, which looks like a typo. Only 12GB per year(!) and for $179 in 2023?..

Thanks. I didn't know this. I guess it will never be back after the Freedom Mobile sale.
Is there anything comparable? I need a data-only (doesn't have to be "only") plan for use as a backup to home internet. My Fido 100% off 4GB promotion is ending and I read they are reluctant to give more promotions on that plan.

What's this Fido 100% off deal that you got?
I was also looking for the Freedom 50 GB for $99 for my child, so it's disappointing to see that they raised the price so much for less service.

The plan is 4GB for $15. It's an add-on plan to my postpaid main voice/text/data plan. It's similar to what is discussed here (in the thread summary it is mentioned in Nov2022 update): https://forums.redflagdeals.com/fido-fi ... t-2078212/
I got it years ago. I think it started with a 50% off discount, then it expired. I called 2 years ago and a nice lady offered it for free for 2 years. Now this 100% off has expired. I called today, was transferred to loyalty. I was offered 50% off for the next 2 years. That was the best they could do. And based on the thread I linked it is. I accepted it. It is slightly better than the unavailable Freedom 50GB for $99 and it is good for what I need it.
I believe you have to have a regular plan with Fido in order to get this.

They didn’t raise the price for less service. The prepaid plans have always been either $99 or $129 for the year. But it was only talk and text. The $179 plan includes 12GB of data on top of the talk and text. So it was a crazy deal that they offered 50GB of data for Black Friday/Boxing Day.

Look like people are selling this plan on Kijiji from $150 to $300.
Maybe I should sell mine too since it’s not being used.

Why not? This Freedom plan is prepaid, with no credit check required to open (most users set up accounts with fictional names and addresses). To take ownership of the account, a new owner/buyer only needs the SIM card and the account email and password (and immediately change the email/password upon first log in).

And you hope they make the payments and don't trash your credit rating (i speak of more than this prepaid Freedom plan).

AFFORDABLE PREPAID PLANS.
5G and 4G LTE plans with no credit check and no contract.

Even for those postpaid plans, there is a procedure called "assumption of responsibility by the new owner", whereby the cellphone company runs a credit check on the new owner/buyer, and then the old account owner is off the hook.

One simply asks them to transfer the name on the grandfathered plan and they do so without complaint?

I'm going to resurrect this thread with a question:
I have this plan with 437 code, and would like to inherit my mom's 416 cellular number - she has it with Virgin, which will be cancelled soon, and she doesn't care to retain it - by porting it onto my account at Freedom, thereby replacing my present Freedom 437 with my mom's Virgin 416 number.
Can this be done?
